Community Guidelines and Posting Rules
Purpose
Budopedia.org is a shared knowledge base and discussion platform for martial arts practitioners. The goal is to exchange knowledge, experience, and ideas in a respectful and informative way. The guidelines below are set to keep the environment safe, factual, and useful for all users.
Respectful Behavior
- Treat others with respect. Personal attacks, insults, harassment, and discrimination of any kind are not allowed.
- Debate ideas, not individuals. Disagree respectfully and stay on topic.
- Do not post material intended to provoke or offend other users.
Posting Rules
- Posts and edits must be relevant to martial arts, training, history, or self-defense.
- Spam, advertisements, and self-promotion without permission are not allowed.
- Duplicate threads or unnecessary cross-posting should be avoided.
- Do not post content that violates copyright laws or that you do not have the right to share.
- When quoting or referring to external material, include proper reference or attribution.
Images and Media
- Images or videos must be appropriate and related to martial arts or the discussion topic.
- Do not upload images containing personal data, explicit content, or violence outside martial arts context.
- Uploaded media may be publicly visible, so users should avoid posting private information.
Language and Conduct
- Use clear and respectful language. Avoid offensive or aggressive wording.
- Posts must be in English unless the section clearly allows another language.
- Do not impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
Content Accuracy
- Information added to the wiki, blog or forum should be factual, verifiable, and relevant.
- Opinions should be clearly marked as opinions, not stated as facts.
- Do not spread rumors or unverified claims.
- Edits must not introduce biased opinions as facts.
Privacy and Safety
- Do not share anyone’s private information, including names, locations, or contact details, without permission.
- Private messages and emails must remain confidential unless all parties agree to share them.
- Report unsafe or abusive behavior to the moderators using the contact form or direct message system.
Moderation Policy
- Moderators may edit, move, or delete posts that break the rules or disrupt discussions.
- Repeated or serious violations can lead to account suspension or permanent removal.
- Decisions by moderators are final, but users can request clarification or appeal by contacting budopedia.contact@gmail.com.
Wiki Editing Rules
- Edits must aim to improve accuracy, clarity, and structure.
- Do not erase or modify another contributor’s work without reason.
- Provide reliable sources when adding historical, technical, or lineage information.
- Speculative claims or unverifiable legends should be marked as such.
- Edits must not introduce biased opinions as facts.
External Links and Promotion
- Links to personal websites, videos, or blogs are allowed only if directly related to the discussion.
- Commercial advertising, affiliate links, or sales promotions are not allowed without prior moderator approval.
Copyright and Ownership
- Users retain ownership of their posts and contributions but grant Budopedia.org a permanent license to display them.
- Content may be edited or quoted within the site for clarity or educational purposes.
- Do not post material copied from other websites or books unless you have rights to share it.
Enforcement
- Breaking these rules may result in warnings, content removal, or account suspension.
- Severe cases, such as threats or harassment, may be reported to the relevant authorities.
- All actions are governed by Danish and EU laws.
- Users may appeal moderation decisions by contacting budopedia.contact@gmail.com.
